Woo Hoo! I’ve broken 10K!

Woo Hoo! I’ve broken 10K!

I am psyched! I made it past 10K words on my NaNoWriMo novel today. Finally, the stories of the characters in my head are being told! I did over 3K words just today! I mean, I did that kind of work near the end of Masquerade, but not since then.   There’s so much story to tell, and the more I write, the clearer the characters become. So far, Joy has developed a bit of a self-involved streak, something I hadn’t…

Weird Halloween

Weird Halloween

Well, this has been a strange Halloween. The boys went out trick-or-treating for the first time; they were out for a half-hour because that’s all that Hubby could stand. Boy #1 went out at Queequeg from Moby Dick; he used his Caliban costume from last year’s Shakespeare play (a leopard-print poncho), my winter hat (a brown thing with a curled brim and a highish crown), and a "harpoon" made from a broom handle and tin foil. His sister painted a…

I DID IT!

I DID IT!

I FINISHED MY CLAIM! 30 drabbles, all done! Somehow the dam broke last night, and I managed to get the last four done within about 2 hours.  Had to watch a bit of "Trapped In The Sky" to finish #30, but it was worth it. Now, to turn my attention to The White Winds. Gotta get a chapter out before NaNo starts. Hopefully this has knocked some sense into my muse! Oh, and while I was describing what I wanted…

Donut Day!!

Donut Day!!

That’s what I’ve decided to call the day that report cards come home since we always go to Krispy Kreme and get their "Donuts for As". And there were lots of As, too. Both boys got straight As, and the Girl had all As – except in Algebra 2 Honors, where she was one point short of a B. A much better grade than it looked like she’d get from her start in the course this year. Each of them…

Very Interesting!

Very Interesting!

Boy #2 came home with a new math textbook today. He showed it to his brother, who said, “That’s my Algebra 1 textbook. Big deal.” Only it’s not. Boy #2’s teacher has decided that he needs the challenge that Algebra gives. Mind you, their sister didn’t take Algebra 1 until 8th grade (and it was Honors, too). She’s taking Algebra 2 Honors right now (and struggling with it, too). His older brother is taking the 8th grade course now, in…

Here’s today’s entry

Here’s today’s entry

Did fasting blood sugar counts yesterday morning and this morning; it’s in the 90s and that’s pretty good. I really should take it again maybe after picking Boy #2 up from school; see what one measly brownie and some exercise do to the blood glucose levels.  My feet aren’t as bad as they had been. The pain has been easing off slightly and slowly; I’m definitely not "dancing" as much. FYI: the "neuropathy dance" is the bouncing that my feet do,…

Drabbles and more

Drabbles and more

I’m up to 20 drabbles at 30_beverages with ten more to go. I’ve started posting them at lunaescence, one per day, and I’ll post them at ff.net like that when they’re all done. My feet are hurting today, and were hurting yesterday and a bit the day before. My blood sugar must be way up – and I’m not really surprised. The Girl made brownies last Thursday, two batches, and forgot to take the one batch to school. So we have plenty…

So, that’s what a stress test is…

Had a stress test this morning. Never had one before though I heard my dad talk about them.  My new GP had been concerned about something he’d seen in my initial EKG so he scheduled me for one. They hooked me up to the computer, got my readings while lying down, standing up, and finally, on the treadmill. It took me all of one minute to reach my heart rate goal. This concerned Dr. L. very much (I should think…

My girl has done it again!

My girl has done it again!

She’s drawn another TBs picture! According to her, the Thunderbirds characters show up in her doodles during science class (between taking notes–she actually likes science). This one is of Alan and his pygmy alligator… sort of a first encounter. She’s got another one that she’s working on, a "secret life of Scott Tracy" thing. She’s drawing the characters as "chibis": small, child-like figures drawn more in the proportion of children than of adults. Personally, I think she’s doing great, and…
