School’s started and it’s too quiet around here

Well, well, well! I can finally update! It’s about time MSN!   Yeah, today school started, and it’s really quiet here. I’ll probably head out in a bit to get a haircut and pick up the groceries I hadn’t had time to get last week. But the only noise – other than an occasional cat meowing at me – is the air conditioner humming away.   We went to the zoo in Columbia yesterday. It was the last day of…

A productive day all around!

A productive day all around!

Did a lot of writing today, between washing, drying, folding and sorting loads of clothes, and stripping then remaking my bed. Managed to get two posts written for IR:TNP today, one written last night went up, so I had three in all. Wrote a quick drabble on Grandma Tracy, and finished chapter 35 of The White Winds as well, and posted both. I even started a little bit of my "Tracy Daughter" fic (actually, she was bugging me so much that…

Another chapter up!

Another chapter up!

Got another chapter of The White Winds up today. Boy, was I thankful for Hobbeth! She saved my bacon by reminding me that one of the characters had discussed a certain matter earlier. Fortunately, I didn’t have a whole lot of rewriting to do. Thanks, Hobbeth! I’ve also joined a new community on live journal called 30 beverages. There’s a list of drinks that you’re supposed to write drabbles on. I’ve got two up already (I’ve asked for Thunderbirds as…

New furnishings

New furnishings

Well, we did a lot of furniture shopping this past week.   What occasioned it was my insistence that the boys clean their room. They started (haven’t quite finished yet) and one of the things they did was pull the mattress and ruined boxspring off of Boy #2’s bed to get at all of the junk under the bed. The thing had been broken for quite a while, and the cover was coming off little by little. Boy #1 decided that…

Yes! It’s finally up!

Yes! It’s finally up!

The color version of The White Winds boys – by the Girl – is finally up! It took a while, especially the bricks, but I’m so glad she did it! Thanks, Sweetie! Life has been quiet here at the moment. We had a nice 4th; went to Bro’s house and ate a good meal (good in all possible ways) then watched Batman Begins. A good movie, better than I thought it would be. My only major complaint, if it could be…

Tried something new today.

Tried something new today.

I got it into my head some time ago that I’d like a new bracelet to go with my medic alert tag. Not that I don’t like the one I have, but it’s nice to have a change once in a while. The cost, however, has kept me from buying one. But recently, Boy #1 has been making necklaces and earrings and little tags to hang on his backpack (which actually went back to the county, seeing as it was…

25,000

25,000

I knew it was comimg, and this morning I saw it. Went to view my stats at ff.net and saw that I had 25,051 hits on The White Winds, with 251 reviews. It’s exciting, a bit puzzling, and all around heartening to see.  Now to get out the next chapter–I’ve been spending my writing time on my RPs and haven’t felt the need to write my actual stories. Hubby didn’t come home until after 5:30 yesterday, but he had a…

Birthday party again

Birthday party again

Spent the afternoon at my brother’s, celebrating his birthday. My SIL made a cake and icing with Splenda; they were both very tasty! We gave him a Boston Red Sox cap and a SC t-shirt. He seemed to be happy with both of them. We watched the latest Pink Panther movie, the one with Steve Martin. I couldn’t hack it; there’s only so much stupid I can take. But there was actually a plot, and Clouseau solves the case by…

Report cards have arrived!

Report cards have arrived!

The mail brought all three report cards to our door today. I was pleased with my kids overall. The Girl had reason to be unsure about her final exam in Geometry; she got a D, which I don’t think surprised her. It brought her semester grade down to a high C, but her final grade overall was a B, which we can most certainly live with. It also means she’ll be staying in the honors math next year. She got…

Animal Control stopped by

Animal Control stopped by

The stray dog is gone. I bought a cheap chain collar, and a chain to keep him from running away, and he stayed tied up to one of our trees last night. Whined off and on during the night, but he was still here in the morning. The kids had christened him "Max", which was appropriate, I suppose. I called animal control this morning, and they came out this afternoon to pick the dog up. I wanted to make sure…
