Got the lunaescence newsletter for May today, and lo, and behold! I’m the author spotlight for the month! This is what they had to say! Author Spotlight: Tikatu. A mother of three juggling the demands of family and life, Tikatu is an accomplished fan fiction author. She primarily writes fanfiction for Thunderbirds, though she has other excellent works too. Her stories are definately worth a read! Isn’t that cool! I’ve only been on the site for two months and it…

Nasty testing… signifying nothing

Nasty testing… signifying nothing

Had the NCV and the EMG tests today. The NCV was more painful than I remembered, but the doctor only did the EMG on my left arm, so it wasn’t as bad(though he did manage to raise a goose egg high on my shoulder where he poked the needle in). He’s prescribed a muscle relaxant, and told me it would make me drowsy. Hey, everything I take makes me drowsy! The tests didn’t seem to tell him much more than the…

Birthday Celebrations!!

Birthday Celebrations!!

Yes, it was birthday celebrations today for my Girl and me! The birthdays were during the week, but as is our family tradition, we got together on Sunday to actually celebrate. We had the party here because my Michigan BIL has been here this weekend. He’s moving on tomorrow, sadly, on the day when Hubby might be off (I’ve forgotten to ask – I’ll do that when the family gets back from their shopping run). My bro and SIL and…

Finally! It’s up.

Finally! It’s up.

Fanfic.net wasn’t allowing uploads for certain people (or perhaps certain categories – I’m not sure which) until this evening. So it took a while for me to get my latest chapter of Overtures up on the site. But now it’s there and I can move on to something else.   I posted my original story "The Dare" at both FicWad and Lunaescence. It had been in the 1000 Word Challenge battle forum at Lunaescence (and in my livejournal),  but it…

Well, I’m back at step one with this numbness.

Well, I’m back at step one with this numbness.

Started getting that knot of pain (the neurologist called it some kind of neuralgia) at the back of my head again, just like last Wednesday. I’ve taken some aspirin (just like before) and followed it up with a coffee chaser (my second pot for the day). I’ve tried putting cold back there to ease the pain, but now I’m thinking that warmth might be better. I was sorely tempted to lay my half-filled coffee cup along the spot where the pain…

The mystery deepens….

The mystery deepens….

crossposted from my LiveJournal Just got back from seeing the neurologist. He said that there were “spots” on my brain, but that those were things that he would expect to see with the diabetes and neuropathy and all. No sign of stroke. I am very grateful for that. He went through my rather extensive file, looking for the other MRI, which I finally remembered as being one of my back and not of my head. For the first time, I…

Well, that ordeal’s over…

Well, that ordeal’s over…

The MRI ordeal is over. Last time, I felt so claustrophobic in that tube and just begged to be let out after only a couple of minutes. It was an older model (and it was several years ago) and my whole body went inside.  I ended up asking for an open-air MRI (which, truthfully, wasn’t much better since the scanner was still in my face). This time was better; the scanner was newer, and didn’t seem to be so in…

Freaked out today.

Freaked out today.

Around 10:30 this morning, I felt a dull, throbbing pain in my neck, near the back of my skull, on the left hand side. I took some aspirin, hoping to stave off a headache. Little did I know that a headache would be the least of my worries.   I became aware of a sudden, tingly numbness on the left side of my face, and my left forearm, the kind of feeling I usually have in my fingers when the weather…

The pain…

The pain…

Yeah, I’m in pain again. Haven’t had it like this for a long time. I think it’s partially due to weather; there are thunderstorms heading our way. But some of it, I’m sure is due to lack of glucose control. I tried to be good today. Went grocery shopping, which required a lot of walking around and lifting things. And I stood while folding clothes. Ate well at breakfast (maybe a little too well) and had a light lunch. Dinner was stroganoff, but…

Another chapter up

Another chapter up

Got chapter 26 of The White Winds up today. Things are moving along slowly, but they are moving. I realized that I’ve been working on this for nearly a year now. I want to get it out of the way so I can get some other things written. I have too many plot bunnies hopping around!   My neuropathy is flaring up today. It’s not been fun, but I think it’s my own fault. I’ve been eating too many carbs lately….
