Birthday Celebrations!!

Birthday Celebrations!!

Yes, it was birthday celebrations today for my Girl and me! The birthdays were during the week, but as is our family tradition, we got together on Sunday to actually celebrate. We had the party here because my Michigan BIL has been here this weekend. He’s moving on tomorrow, sadly, on the day when Hubby might be off (I’ve forgotten to ask – I’ll do that when the family gets back from their shopping run). My bro and SIL and the Niece came up for dinner, bringing a cake and the SIL’s yummy peanut butter balls (hand-dipped!) for everyone. The Girl and I each got a box of our own; if I eat one a day, they should last me a week. We grilled boneless porkchops, and baked them with some BBQ sauce, then had a big salad and fried rice. It was yummy! I did what I could to minimize the sugar impact, but I wasn’t going to stint!

My Hubby bought me two gifts; one on the silly side, one more serious. The silly one was a collectible figure of… Robin the Boy Wonder on his Robin cycle! I laughed and laughed! It was the 1960s-1970s Robin, with the bare legs and elf shoes. I’ll have to add it to the Justice League Batman that’s on my collectibles shelves. The other was a copy of Barry Manilow’s recordings of songs from the 1950s. I’m looking forward to adding it to my music. My brother gave me, a Magic Bullet, of all things. It’s a super blender-chopper-whipping machine. He has one and likes making iced mochas for himself. The kids had to try it out right away of course. I was very surprised and delighted. (Though I loved my Hubby’s gift better…..)

We gave the girl a journal of sorts. I thought I’d gotten one that was plain sheets, but no such luck. I told her she could exchange it if she wanted to. Inside, I tucked a bookmark with a fluffy gray cartoon cat on it, and a gift card to Books-A-Million. My bro and SIL gave her a gift certificate to Hobby Lobby. She’ll enjoy them both, I know.

Right now Hubby has taken the kids out shopping. His bro (my MI BIL) wanted to go shopping, and the kids wanted to, too. He asked me to go, but I figure that it’s good for the two of them to spend time together (even if they have the kids along).

All in all a satisfying birthday celebration. More later if the muse so moves.
