Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen!!

Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen!!

Yes, the Girl is now sweet sixteen! Kinda hard to believe it, but it’s true! We haven’t done anything really special as of yet, but we did take her to a Chinese buffet after her youngest brother’s team was eliminated in "Battle of the Books" (first year that his school has done it and they actually did quite well!). She wants a good digital camera; they’re still pretty pricey so we’re thinking about it. Hubby has suggested a particular art…

The Iron Lady is in da house!

The Iron Lady is in da house!

My good friend ArtisticRainey has created a new Thunderbirds graphic novel (or comic book if you want a less pretentious name for it). You can find it at her website, Iron Lady.  Go take a look; it’s worth the read!!

What constitutes a teenager’s bad day…

What constitutes a teenager’s bad day…

I went shopping today, and bought lots and lots of groceries (we were out of a lot of stuff!). Boy #2, being home first, hauled in all the groceries that I hadn’t dragged in myself (i.e. everything but the frozen and fridge stuff I bought). Because he had dragged in the bags, his brother and sister were required to put everything else away. The Girl was not pleased by this prospect. So, Boy #1 asks about a bottle of "weird sweet and sour…

Sad to see spring wilting

Sad to see spring wilting

Not the trees; they’re still green and getting greener. But the flowers… three nights of chilly temperatures have killed a lot of the azaleas (including ours) and some of the dogwoods. It makes me sad to see. I hear the peach crop is all but ruined, too. It would have been in flower, like these other trees and bushes. I’m feeling a bit of nausea tonight. The Girl was complaining of the same yesterday, and Hubby also mentioned it this…

It’s all… green.

It’s all… green.

Yesterday, as I was driving back toward our neighborhood after picking up the Hubby from work (and planning to stop for Chinese food on the way), I looked up toward Paris Mountain, and it hit me. Everything was green. The whole mountain seemed to be covered with green of varying shades: light, dark, medium… it was a beautiful and sudden sight. Spring was here, in force. I also noticed, to my delight, that as we drove along, there were patches…

More complications

More complications

Warning: Icky stuff ahead. Got up to take Boy #2 to school today. Since the weather has been so nice lately (as in, we’ve skipped spring and moved directly into summer) I thought I’d walk in the mornings, especially on the days when I have to pick him up after play practice. So I put on my clothes from yesterday (standard practice when I’m going to shower later), including my socks. But I noticed a stain on one of the pair…

Another 1 million word milestone

Another 1 million word milestone

Uploaded a chapter of Overtures last night, the first one in months. Went to check my user stats this morning, and lo, I’ve hit the 1 million word mark at ff.net. Whew! Never knew I was so wordy… well, yeah, I did. Worked a little on my novel last week, and am working on drabbles for the Classic Thunderbirds Showcase challenge. Have three out of ten done so far and I’m trying to figure out how to fit the prompt…

An update on a favorite site

An update on a favorite site

My hubby has finally gotten back to updating his comic strip, starting on January 1st. I’ve updated the URL in my list of favorite sites as the place where he archives his strip has changed names. He’s going to try and be more timely about updating as his characters won’t leave him alone–especially since I made him those two t-shirts…. Go and give it a look!

1 Million words

1 Million words

As of January 1, 2007, I have over 1,000,000 words published on the web. This does not include the 50,000 words of my NaNoWriMo novel. This does not include the God-only-knows how many words I’ve written in RPs. This does not include words written in my blogs. This does not include reviews I have written. This does not include the story "Chow Sing Bing and the Forest Dragon", which was written by Boy #1, and posted under my name at…

2007 Resolutions

2007 Resolutions

My resolutions for 2007. Finish my novel. Finish my WIP fanfics. Get back on my diet. (already broke that one, actually. Had donuts for breakfast. 🙁  ) Keep my house cleaner. (Hail, Flylady!) Get rid of clutter. Get out from under the debts. I don’t know of any others. Some of these I’ve had for years – like the housecleaning and the clutter, but I know I can do it, especially if I get back with Flylady. The last one is…
