No idea…

No idea…

That latest Thunderbirds fanfic drabble? No idea where that particular scenario came from. I have a vague notion that the Hood (Gaat) stole some plans and Jeremiah Tuttle (from “The Impostors” episode) is sent to retrieve them. Maybe the Hood crashed in Jeremiah’s territory or something. I know it’s rather farfetched to say the Hood’s mesmeric powers don’t work on Jeremiah but somehow, it makes sense, too. In any case, that improbable scene is what came to mind when I…

Took a day off

Took a day off

I’ve been keeping up pretty well with the daily word count and am up to over 12K, which is higher than yesterday’s total. Today’s is 13,334, so I have a bit left to go to reach it. Mostly I’ve been reading and cooking and doing laundry while mulling over where the story is supposed to go next. I’ve already had a character do something unexpected. For those writers who are planners, this doesn’t happen. Even those who aren’t necessarily planners…

So far, so good

So far, so good

I’m ahead of the curve on word count and the story is beginning to shape up a bit, though a character did something inexplicable and sudden that I don’t understand yet. (Yes, characters can and have taken stories in different directions than originally thought–it’s the beauty of being a “pantser” during NaNo.) The chat room is hopping late at night and in less than two hours I got over 1700 words written. Not bad considering I spent the day either…

Camp NaNoWriMo has begun!

Camp NaNoWriMo has begun!

For me, anyway. I find the July session a lot less stressful than April’s; there’s not as much going on, though my husband works long hours as his co-workers take their vacations. My word count goal is 30K, which averages out to 968 words a day. Very attainable, I think. My main project is a sequel to The White Winds, one I’ve been chewing on for some time. Sneaking in some editing on completed or in-progress projects and adding to…

Putting meat on the bones

Putting meat on the bones

Edits and additions from this post.  I put some meat on those bare bones but I still don’t know if Lady Penelope lives or dies! The prompt is again in blue. Feedback is very welcome. “As one of the hundreds of people who have tried to kill you at one time or another, I can attest to your tenacious refusal to die, milady.”

Wrote this in response to a prompt on Tumblr’s WriteWorld blog.

Wrote this in response to a prompt on Tumblr’s WriteWorld blog.

The prompt is in blue. I’ve made a few tweaks and come up with an ending since first posting it there. It just seemed to cry out for a Thunderbirds twist. Word count:  650. Any feedback welcome! “As one of the hundreds of people who have tried to kill you at one time or another, I can attest to your tenacious refusal to die, milady.”

Changing horses midstream in NaNoWriMo

Changing horses midstream in NaNoWriMo

What started as an original super-powered rescue squad is now a Thunderbirds fanfiction including a super-powered rescue squad. I’m not giving the Tracy boys super powers; that’s been done, if not always done well. The squad won’t be all girls as romantic foils to the boys; that’s also been done and not well. This will be a mixed gender squad positioning themselves as a rival to IR–with nefarious purposes lurking in the background.  Here’s hoping I can write the whole…

NaNoWriMo 2014 is live!

NaNoWriMo 2014 is live!

Yes, I’m doing NaNoWriMo. No, I’m not writing fan fiction. No, I’m not working on that original fantasy story. Yes, I met my word count today and then some. Yes, I’m a municipal liaison … again. I’m pantsing along (as in, not plotting at all) on a superhero rescue squad story. Think Thunderbirds meets the Justice League. Or the X-Men. Or the Avengers. (Marvel version, not Steed and partner. In my house, you have to be specific.) So far I have a…

I’m writing!

I’m writing!

Started a new chapter in Burning Muses, this time about the muse, Terpsichore.  It’s been percolating for a while but tonight I managed to get it together in a file. I’m sitting on it overnight before tweaking it and sending it off for beta. Maybe this will jump start my writing again. I hope so; it’s been a long, dry patch with no real inspiration.

Camp NaNoWriMo Redux

Camp NaNoWriMo Redux

I tried working on my novels and other works-in-progress during April’s Camp session but quickly got behind. So, I gave up. April is just not the best month for me to write. This may change next year with no kids in high school. I guess we’ll see. However, July is usually a good month for me, so I’m signed up and ready. I plan to work on my fanfiction WIPs, probably starting with the shortest, Resolution Redux. I’ve imported most…
