You may have noticed…

That I’ve been posting more of The White Winds lately. Not so much for this site but for my account at AO3 (An Archive Of Our Own). Some of my followers there have been asking for it and I’m finally in a head-space to oblige. Life has been depressing lately. I’ve fallen four times this year; not bad enough to break anything, but painful enough for me to start using my cane more consistently. I’ve had to add a nephrologist…

6 days late but at the halfway point!

6 days late but at the halfway point!

Finally hit the halfway point on the 20th but it’s now the 21st here. I still have a long way to go to catch up but I’m working on it! Part of the issue is my fumbly fingers and my inability to jail my inner editor. The issue is mainly spelling; I know from experience that if I don’t get something at least approximating the word I intend, I may lose it on a later reread and spellcheck.  At least…

I’m about a day behind, I think.

I’m about a day behind, I think.

Actually, I know I’m a day or more behind on NaNoWriMo, but I am writing every day, which is a good thing. I’m also working on a major craft project: a hand latch hooked rug for a family member. The pattern is derived from a rug I saw online, with changed-up colors. The Girl helped me create a grid for it, one with properly-sized openings and I added to the grid by counting off by tens and marking those on…

Just signed up for NaNoWriMo 2021

Just signed up for NaNoWriMo 2021

I’ve signed up for this year’s NaNoWriMo already. For the past few months, I’ve had this fantasy going on in my head about a djinn ending up with a woman whose ideas of what’s right and proper as far as wishes go are foreign to it. The title is The Moon Djinn and I’m excited to start writing it! Maybe this time I’ll be a planner or at least a plantser and can get the whole thing finished in November….

Writing drabbles again.

Writing drabbles again.

I’ve been editing my Brains-centric fic, Brainstorm, again as my muse allows. There’s more to write and tweaks to make before I can post it but it’s the most complete WIP I have. While doing this, I’ve started a new drabble book, this time for a favorite webcomic, Widdershins, by Kate Ashwin. It’s a semi-historical fantasy set in pre-Victorian England and updates every week. I follow it religiously and have bought the books on Kickstarter as they’ve come out. The…

Advice wanted.

Advice wanted.

I’ve recently upgraded Scrivener to version 3.0 (at a small fee) and have taken a good look at a Brains-centric fic from 2015. It’s actually mostly finished, for once, though it needs a hella lot of polishing. I think it’s something I could get my teeth into as far as editing is concerned. The files aren’t here but I’d post it here first once it was finished. The problem I have is: this could be slotted before or after Resolutions…

Got some more stuff posted

Got some more stuff posted

I managed to post another chapter of Burning Muses on this site and on Fanfiction.net as well. I’ve also made the decision about Promptings; the “chapters” will be stand-alone one-shots as that’s what I’ve done with all my other one-shot stories. I haven’t posted them at Fanfic yet, nor have I posted any of this at AO3. A couple more chapters of Burning Muses are nearly ready, though I’m not sure of one of them as it’s completely dialog and…

Finally feeling like writing

Finally feeling like writing

…or at least editing. Son #2 has finally achieved another level of adulthood: a driver’s license and a car of his own. This means the Girl doesn’t have to take him to work for 4 a.m. and I don’t have to pick him up in the early afternoon. It also means the Hubby can take our car more often instead of waiting for the bus. With COVID-19 still rampaging through the country and not being eligible for a vaccine (yet),…

Asking for advice!

Asking for advice!

I’ve just put up two one-shot stories under the collection title of Promptings. It’s under Short Stories. But my short stories aren’t a collection; they are actually multi-chapter stories, anywhere from two to nine chapters. So, should the one-shots be collected under short stories or as individual stories under One-Shots? Please give me some advice, either here, on Twitter, or on Tumblr. Many thanks!

A little obstacle…

A little obstacle…

Someone (Willow) decided I shouldn’t write on my new NaNoWriMo novel tonight. I was originally going to do a series of short stories, one for each day, but I’m already behind word count-wise. Willow is not helping.
