Happy New Year! (almost)

Happy New Year! (almost)

Uh, yeah, it’s been more than five months since I last updated. *winces in embarrassment* It’s not that I haven’t come around lately; I’ve been keeping an eye on traffic and updating behind the scenes stuff as needed. If you pop in every so often, you’ll see I’ve been changing out the homepage’s background seasonally. I really haven’t had much to say, I guess. NaNoWriMo kicked my butt. Did the ML (Municipal Liaison or regional volunteer) gig again–this after my…

Done At Last!

Done At Last!

All the edits for The White Winds are complete! The whole thing is posted here and at AO3! I have not been updating it at ff.net as I should have but that will have to wait for another day. Month. Year, even. I’ll admit I haven’t been writing every day as I intended to. However, I have been writing. I’ve also been pondering and asking advice, particularly in regards to Resolutions Redux and Brainstorm. I have finally decided that Brainstorm…

Just HAD to show this off!

Just HAD to show this off!

First of all, I’m way behind as usual. Still trying to write something every day but a couple of days have been just a few hundred words. Still going to keep at it! I think I do need to get out of the house for a bit to get away from distractions–like the cats, who want to cuddle at the most inopportune times! However! I’ve been poking around the Artisans forum on NaNoWriMo and, oh my! Two artisans, MartenTheWarrior and…

I’m about a day behind, I think.

I’m about a day behind, I think.

Actually, I know I’m a day or more behind on NaNoWriMo, but I am writing every day, which is a good thing. I’m also working on a major craft project: a hand latch hooked rug for a family member. The pattern is derived from a rug I saw online, with changed-up colors. The Girl helped me create a grid for it, one with properly-sized openings and I added to the grid by counting off by tens and marking those on…

First five drabbles posted!

First five drabbles posted!

Yay! My first five drabbles for Introspections have been posted! I’m enjoying these little slice-of-life scenes from canon. They’re nudging my muse to work on other things, like Brainstorm. I also reread almost all of The White Winds at fanfiction.net. The whole thing needs some tightening up, which I’ve been trying to do. The reread gave me more fodder for the sequel (yes, there is one!) which has been sitting in limbo for a bit now. I’ve also got an…

More updates!

More updates!

I’ve posted two one-shots at fanfiction.net today: No Man Is an Island and Making Waves. Plus, I’ve updated Burning Muses with a new chapter: Calliope, Chief among the Muses. I won’t be posting this chapter at fanfiction.net for at least a week. I’d like readers to see it here first! There’s at least one more chapter of Burning Muses written that I like, though it’s all dialogue. It’s for Thalia, the Muse of Comedy, and no, it’s not about Gordon!…

Asking for advice!

Asking for advice!

I’ve just put up two one-shot stories under the collection title of Promptings. It’s under Short Stories. But my short stories aren’t a collection; they are actually multi-chapter stories, anywhere from two to nine chapters. So, should the one-shots be collected under short stories or as individual stories under One-Shots? Please give me some advice, either here, on Twitter, or on Tumblr. Many thanks!

Welp, that was a wash.

Welp, that was a wash.

For the first time since 2005, I did not make 50K at NaNoWriMo. Whether it was the lack of in-person events (during which I always get lots of words), my emotional state, a lack of inspiration, or the pressure of household duties, my total word count was 13,374. Maybe 2021 will be better for NaNoWriMo.

The muse awakens!

The muse awakens!

You’d think that, in this time of shelter-in-place orders, I’d be writing up a storm, editing my work, finishing my works-in-progress. You’d be wrong. I’ve been sewing–making masks and finishing a very old quilt project. I’ve been playing video games. Doing chores. Gardening. Worrying about my parents. Chauffeuring the essential workers in my family. I’ve been ordering groceries as my kids won’t let me shop. I finally broke quarantine the other day, after the hair salons opened. But I haven’t…
