The first day of NaNoWriMo 2017 was a success!

Well, it was for me and my region. We had a midnight virtual write-in in our ChatNaNo room with four to five people in there starting off the month with word wars and chats. Then a really well-attended write-in at Greenville Technical College’s Barton Campus library. It was our first time there and the librarians and English professors made us feel very welcome! The Kick-Off was last Sunday at our usual park pavilion and it wasn’t as well-attended as I’d…

It’s done!

It’s done!

The final chapter of Not All Dead is finished! It’ll need some tweaking before I post it; the latter part is clear in my head but feels kind of awkward when put into words. It tops out at 11,335 words. A little longer than I planned for, but not too bad! In the morning, I’m at home by myself. I hope to get some more done on the new fanfic, Where All Love Begins. Right now, I have a current…

Camp NaNoWriMo April 2017

Camp NaNoWriMo April 2017

Yeah, I’m trying the April session of Camp NaNoWriMo this year. Since I haven’t finished my last chapter of Not All Dead, that’s my first priority. (I am close, very close to finishing it). After that, I’m going to work on my sequel to The White Winds, titled Where All Love Begins. I tried to write this during a previous Camp session but didn’t get too far into it. Those bits and pieces are put aside so they won’t be…

The story is not finished yet, but…

I posted the first chapter! It’s not betaread yet, so if you see any problems–whether they’re grammar, spelling, or possible canon errors–let me know. I’m really, really excited about it! I’m sure I won’t get any responses at my site, but I might at Tumblr or Facebook. Also, if anyone is interested in betareading (that’s proofreading/editing for those outside the fanfiction community) I’d be incredibly grateful. I haven’t sent this to my usual beta because I’m not sure how well-versed she…

Finally finished the third chapter

Finally finished the third chapter

I have been so behind on blogging and writing. Partially because I don’t have the deadline of NaNoWriMo hanging over my head but also because there’s been a lot of personal upheaval in my life–from my mom’s kidney failure to my dad’s current hospital stay to my recent fractured leg due to another nasty fall. However, I’m determined to get this Flash fic done and off to a betareader before the end of the month. Why? The first session of Camp…

Word count was 50017 to validate. I added another 100 or so words after midnight to get the “Update your word count for 30 days” badge. One more write-in tomorrow night. I think I may work on my fanfic for The Flash fandom, just for a change of pace. Then the Thank God It’s Over (TGIO) party on Saturday and NaNoWriMo 2016 will be in the can.

A very brief update.

A very brief update.

I took Friday off to shop and to binge watch the rest of Thunderbirds Are Go’s first season; it dropped yesterday on Amazon Prime Video. I made Thursday’s goal, wrote a few hundred words on Friday, and have a write-in this afternoon, during which I plan on catching up. (Still have to grocery shop, though.) Current word count: 5353.

Lo, a fic recommendation!

Lo, a fic recommendation!

I’m not often given to recommending stories, though I’m more likely to recommend a fan fiction these days more than anything else. This is one of those times. The author uploaded the last chapter tonight and, wow! What a twist! It came totally out of left field–though someone more astute than I am might have seen it coming. Knowledge of the property, Kate Ashwin’s fun webcomic, Widdershins, is helpful but you’re good if you only read the first book. You…

Fall is here, or is it?

Fall is here, or is it?

That’s what I keep asking myself every time I go outside. Yes, the calendar says, “Autumn!” My outdoor thermometer says, “Summer!” One good thing about autumn is National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo). Jo, my co-Municipal Liaison (read regional volunteer), and I will be making plans and setting dates for the various write-ins and parties that go with “30 Days of Literary Abandon!” This year we have four branches of the Greenville County Library System offering our members space to…

Quite a bit behind

Quite a bit behind

But plugging away at it. I didn’t write the first two days. The first day is understandable; I had to put down our elderly black cat, the last of four I wove into one of my Thunderbirds story arcs. It was sad but, to be truthful, it’s also a relief. We’ll miss him. The second day, not so much. So, day three saw me starting to write.  Today has been far better in terms of getting words down and so,…
