Autumn is upon us!

Autumn is upon us!

Cheating here, cross posting from my live journal.  Cold night, cool day. No school for the kids so they played outside for most of it.  Hubby has turned the furnace on to see if the pilot light remained on during the summer. (It has.) Now to wait for things to warm up a bit in here. My parents called to ask if it would be better for them to come down at Thanksgiving or Christmas. They’re bringing a couple of…

Son #1 is now a published poet!

Son #1 is now a published poet!

We just received our copies of The Teacher’s Selection Anthology of Poetry. This particular book focuses on fifth graders’ poetry and our volume contains poetry from across the southeast, from Maryland to Alabama. Son #1’s poem is the only one from his school, and only one of two from Greenville. I know there were other poems nominated, but there were probably parents who didn’t return the permission slip to the publisher. We did, and ordered two copies of the book,…

New glasses… for two of us.

New glasses… for two of us.

I picked up my new specs today. They are progressive lenses, which means I have to “point my nose at what I want to see” for distances, and drop my eyes but not my head when I want to read. Hopefully it will make reading what I write online easier.   We also ordered and got new lenses for the Girl, putting them in her old, still stylish frames. She’s been complaining about not seeing the overhead projections and her prescription…

You may have noticed a couple of things missing…

You may have noticed a couple of things missing…

Like my blog entry of the 9th and the two “comments” attached to them.   It seems that a person can’t write to their personal blog without running the risk of being flamed into the next county. It also seems that people have been “monitoring” me to see what I’m up to. As a result, I’ve had to limit my blog to those of whom who I can count on as friends.   It’s sad, really. I do have issues…

Feeling better… finally!

Feeling better… finally!

Saw my GP yesterday and got prescriptions for a powerful decongestant and an antibiotic since this sinus thing was heading into infection territory. The decongestant has made a BIG difference in how I feel; I can even smell again, which is a blessing. The throat is sore today, which it wasn’t yesterday but I’m doing what I can to deal with that.   Had my eyes tested today and will look around for prices on the progressive lenses that I’m…

Ugh…. I hate colds!!!! Or whatever this is….

Ugh…. I hate colds!!!! Or whatever this is….

Nasty, nasty, nasty! The congestion had just gotten worse and worse until this afternoon I couldn’t sit down and breathe. Or drink. I was getting very frustrated, grumpy, and more than a little scared. The only way I could even partially clear my sinuses was to get up and walk around.   Finally, at the Girl’s insistence, I called my GP and made an appointment for tomorrow morning. And while I was at it, I talked to her nurse, who…

Oh, what a miserable morning….

Oh, what a miserable morning….

At least, as far as this cold is concerned. Woke up with both sinus passages solidly blocked and they stayed that way, not giving up much more than a drop or two of mucus until after I got myself a cup of coffee. The mucus is still clear, which may mean that this isn’t a cold at all but a worsening of my allergies. Just what I need….   Started The White Winds chapter 15 the other day, and Overtures…

I hate colds.

I hate colds.

This one has lasted three days so far. I figure I’ve got another four or five to go. I hate feeling all stopped up an unable to get anything out when I blow my nose.   At least I’ve gotten two more scenes written for Overtures. Just have to figure out where to go from there. I suppose one of the “Talking with Jeff ” scenes. I need to go back and see what kinds of improvements Jeff had told…

I hate it when my muse goes wandering off….

I hate it when my muse goes wandering off….

I’ve got two small portions of Overtures 7 in the can. That’s it.   I haven’t felt this dry on a story in a long time. I have other scenes in mind for later, and I probably should write them out. I’ve been betaing some things, and need to do some others. I’m going nuts at IR:TNP with one of the writers.   Sigh.   I need to get things going with this fic so I can  get back to The…

Whew! Finally another chapter up!

Whew! Finally another chapter up!

Chapter 14 of The White Winds is up and what a hassle! I got this new word processing program (with a whole lot more) that’s supposed to be MS Word compatible. Well, I had trouble uploading to ff.net, and when I finally did post the chapter, things were all bunched together. I had to go back, save in Wordpad, and upload from there. Then things looked right. I hope I don’t have to do this for every single file from…
