Done At Last!

Done At Last!

All the edits for The White Winds are complete! The whole thing is posted here and at AO3! I have not been updating it at ff.net as I should have but that will have to wait for another day. Month. Year, even. I’ll admit I haven’t been writing every day as I intended to. However, I have been writing. I’ve also been pondering and asking advice, particularly in regards to Resolutions Redux and Brainstorm. I have finally decided that Brainstorm…

About fanon

If you’ve noticed my home page, I’ve been posting a lot of The White Winds lately–roughly one chapter every other day. My goal was to get it finished both here and at AO3 before the New Year, but that’s not going to happen. I should get it done early in 2023 so I can focus on doing the same for some of my other lengthy stories. But, as I posted chapter 65, I noticed something. A bit of fanon (an…

I MADE IT!

I MADE IT!

Started the day at 43,831. Finished around 8 p.m. with 50,063. Our region had a marathon noon-to-midnight virtual write-in. In fact, I’m on the last two-hour shift and writing this as part of a sprint! A lot of what I’ve written has been dreck, to be honest. Some of it has had nothing to do with Burning Muses (though I did make a stab at finishing that), Commissions (on which I did far better than I thought), or The Love…

Barely keeping up

Barely keeping up

But keeping up nonetheless. I’ve done a lot on Burning Muses though going back through it and editing will be a bear. Some of the reasons I’ve kept up is that I’m doing some dictation using otter.ai. The stuff that comes out is not precisely what I want but it keeps the word count going. Write-ins, both in-person and virtual have been fabulous, even if what I write is even more difficult to parse than the dictation–especially on the laptop….

It’s November

It’s November

And that means NaNoWriMo! I’m doing the ML thing again with two others. We get to have in-person events again; so happy about that! Our Kick-Off was breezy and a bit chilly but it went well! Chatnano.net isn’t working too well right now–no Timmy the word war bot to help out. I’m gonna miss those velociraptors and the occasional defenestration (virtually, of course). We set up a Discord server with help from a fellow ML (or ML emeritus). The region’s…

It’s been awhile…

It’s been awhile…

It’s autumn, my favorite time of year. The temperatures are cooler; the trees are slowly changing color. Today, my husband and youngest son are taking the air conditioners out of the windows. I’ve brought in my long pants. I’ve lost more weight since last fall and some of my jeans are going to Goodwill soon. NaNoWriMo is next month and I’m one of three Municipal Liaisons for our region. For once, I have a basic plan for my writing. Right…

Tweaks and tails

Tweaks and tails

Had to take a couple of hours to tweak all the links involved in The White Winds so navigation from chapter to chapter works right. It’s hard because the chapters are automatically numbered at both fanfiction.net and AO3 but I haven’t been doing that here. I probably should, simply to make it clearer. I plan on updating chapters here on Mondays and Thursdays, just to be consistent. Readers at AO3 like it and though they could read the whole thing…

You may have noticed…

That I’ve been posting more of The White Winds lately. Not so much for this site but for my account at AO3 (An Archive Of Our Own). Some of my followers there have been asking for it and I’m finally in a head-space to oblige. Life has been depressing lately. I’ve fallen four times this year; not bad enough to break anything, but painful enough for me to start using my cane more consistently. I’ve had to add a nephrologist…

6 days late but at the halfway point!

6 days late but at the halfway point!

Finally hit the halfway point on the 20th but it’s now the 21st here. I still have a long way to go to catch up but I’m working on it! Part of the issue is my fumbly fingers and my inability to jail my inner editor. The issue is mainly spelling; I know from experience that if I don’t get something at least approximating the word I intend, I may lose it on a later reread and spellcheck.  At least…

Just HAD to show this off!

Just HAD to show this off!

First of all, I’m way behind as usual. Still trying to write something every day but a couple of days have been just a few hundred words. Still going to keep at it! I think I do need to get out of the house for a bit to get away from distractions–like the cats, who want to cuddle at the most inopportune times! However! I’ve been poking around the Artisans forum on NaNoWriMo and, oh my! Two artisans, MartenTheWarrior and…
