Well, I figured out what was wrong with the little ficlet…

I’ve been writing a ficlet for Thunderbirds based on the stories “Operation Crash Dive” and “The Impostors”. After watching “Crash Dive” I started to wonder: what if Captain Hansen thought International Rescue had really stolen those secret aircraft plans. He knows Scott’s name, first and last – a security issue that has really, really irked me, btw – and he has the names of Gordon, Alan, and Virgil, too. He could easily figure out the rest of the family because…

Wow! It’s been too long!

Wow! It’s been too long!

Almost a year and a half since my last post here. That’s… not good. Well, as one of my resolutions for 2013, I want to write a post for one or the other of my blogs every day. I wrote one after midnight on the first at my livejournal and this blog gets today’s post, I guess. The livejournal is usually more, uh, lively as I post about everything and anything there and this one is supposed to be more…

Feeling a tad inadequate…

Feeling a tad inadequate…

I’m beginning to think I write mule puke. Not going into the reasons why; they make me sound like a whining toddler who isn’t getting enough attention. But if what I’m writing is trash, I want to know.

Weirdness in my writing worlds.

Weirdness in my writing worlds.

First, I’m supposed to be working on my 2007 NaNo novel during August’s Camp NaNoWriMo. Unfortunately, between my anniversary and various shopping trips, I really haven’t done much. I’ve also had the problem of things popping up from my planned 2011 NaNo novel, which doesn’t have a title yet. In an attempt to jumpstart finishing the 2007 story, Moonstrike!, I’ve started posting some bits I know are done at Fan Nation. I’m posting it there first because, frankly, the Thunderbirds…

Well, I did it… sorta

Well, I did it… sorta

Yes, I made it to 50K (total of 50,257 actually) on my NaNoNovel, Wight Knights. No, as usual I didn’t actually finish the thing. I will admit to doing some cut and paste from my 2010 novel, Tales of the Spruce Moose, so yes, I cheated a little. Much of what I cut and pasted needed editing anyway to fit my current storyline, which has morphed somewhat from last year’s series of short stories. Some of what I counted (about…

poke… poke… poke

poke… poke… poke

My orginal fic – the one I did for NaNo last year – has been poking me. I have this wicked cool scene to write, and I got a cool idea that I have to retcon in some of the previous chapters. It turns out that this story is more about the whole group than it is about Elise, and Julianna is coming to the fore as a character – so much so, that I’m going to bring her back to life. Problem…

Got on a roll writing tonight

Got on a roll writing tonight

I’ve been puttering around with a scene from Moonstrike! where Jeff takes his grown children to Mateo Island so they can see the progress being made on the Thunderbirds. In the comics, the Thunderbirds were built there as the facilities on Tracy Island weren’t ready, and weren’t really suitable, either, when you think about it. So, they’re visiting, and Jeff’s showing things off, and Brains is there, and when they get back to Tracy Island, Jeff is talking to his daughter about…

I’m finding that coding my stories is very… therapeutic.

I’m finding that coding my stories is very… therapeutic.

Been working on coding things for my personal fiction site. I’ve finished and posted Mosaic – though that will be updated when the muse strikes – and I’m working on The White Winds. There’s still lots to do, but I’m almost halfway through the chapter formatting. I’ve managed to get it down to a routine. Open the .txt files, put in the chapter coding snippet for each chapter. Scroll down and add the back and forward buttons snippet. Tweak them…

Rewriting history

Rewriting history

Have you ever had someone in your life who wants to rewrite their history? Instead of being seen as acting selfish, or vain, or jealous, or generally unhinged, they want you to edit things you have said to make them look good? To remove those times when they were selfish, or vain, or jealous, or whatever else they might have done? I have. Since 2006, someone has been so obsessed with the way they look to others that they’ve wanted…

Resolutions–at last

Resolutions–at last

I’ve taken my own sweet time trying to figure out some New Year’s resolutions for myself this year. I’ve a bad habit, as many people have, of making resolutions and promptly breaking them. But I think I have a couple this year that I can stick with. One, is to try and get back with FlyLady. When I was working with her system, my house stayed cleaner and my life felt better organized. I’d like that feeling again. Two, to…
