About fanon
If you’ve noticed my home page, I’ve been posting a lot of The White Winds lately–roughly one chapter every other day. My goal was to get it finished both here and at AO3 before the New Year, but that’s not going to happen. I should get it done early in 2023 so I can focus on doing the same for some of my other lengthy stories.
But, as I posted chapter 65, I noticed something. A bit of fanon (an prevailing idea not supported by canon) that the Thunderbirds Are Go! fandom has used a lot is in there.
The fanon is this: Virgil Tracy doesn’t really function well until after his morning coffee.
Now, I don’t lay claim to having started this, not at all. It’s a trope, one that’s been used as long as coffee and stories have existed together. I just thought it was fascinating that I was writing that specific fanon back in 2007 or so (I figure 2007 because I said in an author’s note on ff.net that I hadn’t forgotten the fic. Of course, I must have ended up with another dry spell at some point because the final chapters all came in a rush–in 2010.)
I have a TAG Secret Santa fic to finish and clothes to fold before bed, so later days, y’all!
