Happy New Year! (almost)

Happy New Year! (almost)

Uh, yeah, it’s been more than five months since I last updated. *winces in embarrassment* It’s not that I haven’t come around lately; I’ve been keeping an eye on traffic and updating behind the scenes stuff as needed. If you pop in every so often, you’ll see I’ve been changing out the homepage’s background seasonally. I really haven’t had much to say, I guess. NaNoWriMo kicked my butt. Did the ML (Municipal Liaison or regional volunteer) gig again–this after my…

Re: Moonstrike!

Re: Moonstrike!

I’ve been looking it over again and it’s okay. Wrote in a little bit to give a reason for protecting property that sounds feasible. I will, however, need to break up the chapters for posting–some of them are wicked long! Fortunately, that should be easy enough to do since I tend to write in scenes. And, of course, there’s finishing the damned thing! Some years ago, I was told that fanfic readers wanted their stories to focus on the main…

Thinking about tanking Moonstrike!

Thinking about tanking Moonstrike!

Well, I was thinking about it after rereading things I’ve already written. The thing is, I haven’t posted much of what I’ve got, so I can work on changing the plot if necessary. What I keep coming up against is the insistence IR has had of saving lives, not property. Not sure if it’s canon or not; it may be, but what episode it came from, I have no clue. If it’s fanon, then I can ignore it, really. I…

I MADE IT!

I MADE IT!

Started the day at 43,831. Finished around 8 p.m. with 50,063. Our region had a marathon noon-to-midnight virtual write-in. In fact, I’m on the last two-hour shift and writing this as part of a sprint! A lot of what I’ve written has been dreck, to be honest. Some of it has had nothing to do with Burning Muses (though I did make a stab at finishing that), Commissions (on which I did far better than I thought), or The Love…

It’s been awhile…

It’s been awhile…

It’s autumn, my favorite time of year. The temperatures are cooler; the trees are slowly changing color. Today, my husband and youngest son are taking the air conditioners out of the windows. I’ve brought in my long pants. I’ve lost more weight since last fall and some of my jeans are going to Goodwill soon. NaNoWriMo is next month and I’m one of three Municipal Liaisons for our region. For once, I have a basic plan for my writing. Right…

You may have noticed…

You may have noticed…

That I’ve been posting more of The White Winds lately. Not so much for this site but for my account at AO3 (An Archive Of Our Own). Some of my followers there have been asking for it and I’m finally in a head-space to oblige. Life has been depressing lately. I’ve fallen four times this year; not bad enough to break anything, but painful enough for me to start using my cane more consistently. I’ve had to add a nephrologist…

6 days late but at the halfway point!

6 days late but at the halfway point!

Finally hit the halfway point on the 20th but it’s now the 21st here. I still have a long way to go to catch up but I’m working on it! Part of the issue is my fumbly fingers and my inability to jail my inner editor. The issue is mainly spelling; I know from experience that if I don’t get something at least approximating the word I intend, I may lose it on a later reread and spellcheck.  At least…

I’m about a day behind, I think.

I’m about a day behind, I think.

Actually, I know I’m a day or more behind on NaNoWriMo, but I am writing every day, which is a good thing. I’m also working on a major craft project: a hand latch hooked rug for a family member. The pattern is derived from a rug I saw online, with changed-up colors. The Girl helped me create a grid for it, one with properly-sized openings and I added to the grid by counting off by tens and marking those on…

Finally feeling like writing

Finally feeling like writing

…or at least editing. Son #2 has finally achieved another level of adulthood: a driver’s license and a car of his own. This means the Girl doesn’t have to take him to work for 4 a.m. and I don’t have to pick him up in the early afternoon. It also means the Hubby can take our car more often instead of waiting for the bus. With COVID-19 still rampaging through the country and not being eligible for a vaccine (yet),…

2020 can go away now.

2020 can go away now.

I try to keep this blog tilted toward writing and not personal things, even though it started out as personal way back when. But… things have been hard for about a month and a half now and I just have to share it somewhere. First off, my mom lost her battle with Alzheimer’s and end-stage renal failure on September 16th. She died at my sister’s house, attended by hospice nurses, and with my dad, her husband of just 60 years,…
