Well, as much as I like Sunspot, it’s not working for me.

Well, as much as I like Sunspot, it’s not working for me.

My menus keep disappearing for no reason that I can fathom, and since I’m a  total php noob (and a near total CSS noob as well), I’m going to look for something that will stick when I set up the menus. It also may make a decision I’ve been contemplating: whether or not to publish all my fanfiction here or just link to my fanfiction.net account. Any suggestions?

Beginning to get the hang of this theme thing

Beginning to get the hang of this theme thing

I’ve been quiet over the past months as I’ve worked on this site on and off. My goal is to shape this into my writer’s platform, using it to eventually promote my fantasy fiction–eventually being the operative word here. I’m going to replace my personal fanfiction site with this one, too. The original has served me well; unfortunately, my coding skills are not the best and it’s beginning to break down on the actual story pages. The one-shots and smaller chapter…

On track

On track

Probably should have posted this yesterday, but … oh well, I’ll edit and put it up today! First, I’m right on track for word count. Hallelujah! Wednesday, I felt generally run down, ill, and grumpy, to the extent that we ordered comfort food (pizza) instead of what I’d planned for dinner (hot dogs) and I didn’t write a word. I was a full day ahead on word count at that point, so taking the day off didn’t hurt a bit. I’ve…

Taking a break to update on Camp NaNoWriMo

Taking a break to update on Camp NaNoWriMo

I decided to do the Camp NaNoWriMo July session, even though I previously tried (and bombed) in April. I’ve found in past years that July isn’t quite as busy for the family as the rest of the summer seems to be. So, I picked up the novel, dusted it off, and went back to the beginning. I had a good start, but pretty soon lagged behind on my word count. There’s still so much world building to do! I’ve been…

Rewriting history

Rewriting history

Have you ever had someone in your life who wants to rewrite their history? Instead of being seen as acting selfish, or vain, or jealous, or generally unhinged, they want you to edit things you have said to make them look good? To remove those times when they were selfish, or vain, or jealous, or whatever else they might have done? I have. Since 2006, someone has been so obsessed with the way they look to others that they’ve wanted…

eFiction for the FanFiction.net user

eFiction for the FanFiction.net user

I’ve been helping my good friend Lillehafrue copy some of her stories to Lunaescence Archives. She’s pretty upset (as am I) with the way FanFiction.net has added those interstitial ads that you can’t X out, and wants a new place to post her stories. Now, Lunaescence uses a variation on eFiction, a popular archiving software. Quite a few of the smaller (and a couple of bigger) archives use it. The trouble is: it’s nothing like FanFiction.net. It has a limited…

Welcome!

Welcome!

Welcome to As the Muse Moves! This originally was a site on Windows Live Spaces, and was about not only my writing, but also my family. Many posts were cross-posted to my live journal, and if you go back in the archives, you’ll find I talk about my boring life an awful lot. The pages listed here are from my other Windows Live writing blog, which had the same name as this blog does now. It was full of advice…

It’s official…

It’s official…

My toe is broken. The doctor didn’t even bother to x-ray it; he said he could feel the “dimple” in the bone where the break was! Ewww! I’ve got a scrip for pain meds and I’ll go back in two weeks for an x-ray to be sure it’s healing. Good news from the visit though; according to their scales, I’ve lost twelve pounds! My goal is 15 before I see the diabetes management team in July, so I’m well on the…

What do I like so far?

What do I like so far?

Well, I like the choice of themes. This outer space theme seems to look cool. I also like the choice of layouts. I’m not keen on the fact that I have to upgrade my Windows Media Player if I want to copy a playlist from there, but I’m doing it anyway. Much easier than trying to type in all the stuff from my MusicMatch playlist (which is rather extensive). I do wish I could change the size of my fonts,…

Oooookay

Oooookay

This looks interesting. I’ll have to try it out and see if I like it more than livejournal and if I can keep two blogs going with all the other writing I do.   Working on The White Winds, ch. 4, and on Masquerade, ch 18. I’ve got it in my head to work on my original stuff as well. The Elise story needs major revamping, or I might continue with it as it is and see if I get…
